A Trip to the Library

I hadn’t visited my favourite building in the city for ages. Too much to do, too little time — at least until today. Just enough time for a quick stroll around.

So what’s the reason for my fascination with the library? The geometry, people, movement, and the books.

There’s also the fact that OBA is like a high-end Dr. Jeckll/Mr. Hyde with an endless range of characters — all friendly and harmless, of course.

It’s an extremely theatrical space; in a slow motion kind of way. It’s not that everyone’s running around delivering lines from Shakespeare and Brecht: no, not that. I’m just saying everyone and everything (which includes all inanimate objects) has a role to play…
